Description
This historic property, situated in the vibrant heart of Galatone’s old town, embodies the beauty and authenticity of Salento’s architecture, blending ancient charm with elegant modern renovations completed around ten years ago. The residence spans two levels, welcoming its guests with a harmonious combination of spaces, star-vaulted ceilings, and refined details that evoke the noble past of Salento.
On the ground floor, the entrance opens to a spacious garage, ideal for housing bicycles, equipment, or adapting as a small workshop or creative studio. Adjacent to the garage is a cozy independent apartment: this floor features a comfortable bedroom, compact yet bright, with a window overlooking an internal courtyard, and a well-appointed bathroom completing the living space.
A traditional staircase with steps in local stone leads to the upper level, where you will find a second bedroom, equally inviting and intimate, along with a second private bathroom, perfect for guests or those seeking additional independence.
On the first floor lies the noble section of the property, unfolding in all its elegance. The expansive living room serves as the heart of the residence, dominated by high, majestic star-vaulted ceilings adorned with finely crafted stonework that captures and reflects natural light in an enchanting manner. Carefully chosen furnishings harmonize with the original structure, creating an ideal setting for entertaining guests and enjoying convivial moments. Adjacent to the living room is the dining room, where a large wooden table and antique cabinets set the tone for family gatherings or elegant dinners.
The living room also provides access to a separate kitchen, modern and functional yet preserving the charm of historic homes. The kitchen opens directly onto a terrace at the same level—an open space that becomes magical on summer evenings. Surrounded by Mediterranean plants, it’s perfect for al fresco breakfasts or starlit dinners.
The private and welcoming sleeping area includes two elegant bedrooms, both featuring simple yet charming furnishings. The windows offer unique glimpses of the ancient rooftops of the town. A main bathroom, tastefully renovated, serves the two bedrooms.
Crowning this property is the rooftop area, an outdoor space extending across the entire surface of the house. It offers panoramic views of Galatone’s historic center, including its bell towers and ochre-colored rooftops. This space, ideal as a solarium or for creating a rooftop garden, is perfect for those seeking a private and tranquil outdoor retreat where they can enjoy the sun and spectacular views stretching to the horizon.
The skillful renovation has preserved every historical detail, enhancing the original elements of the house, such as the star-vaulted ceilings. Each room exudes a sense of history and authenticity, enriched by modern comforts, making this residence not just a house but a true gem of art and architecture. It’s the ideal home for those who wish to experience the essence of Salento in a historical setting of rare beauty.
